Peter Mullan, VP, Planning/Design for the High Line, gives the Great Museums film crew a tour of Section 3 and the Rail Yards
GROUNDBREAKING AND BREATHTAKING!
Sections 1 and 2 of the High Line are beautiful, but Section 3 is going to be SPECTACULAR. Today the Great Museums team got a private tour of the unfinished area of the High Line around the Hudson Yards courtesy of Peter Mullan, VP for Planning & Design for the High Line. Peter showed us some of the highlights of the new development. First up was the plaza area that will be created on the Tenth Avenue spur, an extension of the High Line that runs east to the Post Office building. This area will open up the widest area of the High Line, creating a gathering space that provides theater and communal spaces overlooking the Hudson Yards project.
The Interim Walkway that will run west towards the river will border the new mixed-use development allowing visitors a glimpse of the High Line as it existed in its undeveloped state. And the northernmost end, which wraps around the rail lines, will fully integrate the High Line into the Midtown area. This section of the High Line will be part of an entirely new Manhattan neighborhood – defining and creating a cohesive section of New York City that never existed before.
Watch the area for exciting changes that recreate Manhattan’s West Side.
