West of Kentucky to the vibrant paintings of Gullah
life by Jonathan Green of South Carolina, the art of
the South is as varied and diverse as its people. Opened
in 1992 in Augusta, Georgia, the museum has a surprising
collection of antebellum portraiture, Civil War paintings,
still life, impressionism, landscapes, narrative paintings
and folk art.
