In GREAT MUSEUMS: Curious About Cuba, Luz Merino, Vice Director of the National Museum of Fine Arts in Havana, explains Victor Manuel’s “The Tropical Gypsy,” a piece that literally changed the face of Cuban Art. Called “The Mona Lisa of the Americas,” Manuel’s subject is symbolic of the “blended” Cuban, with her Indian, white and mulatto features.
